Overview
Our PostgreSQL Engineering team is on a mission to redefine the future of cloud-native PostgreSQL by building a modern database platform that delivers continuous availability, high performance, and seamless scalability. We are investing in foundational improvements across core PostgreSQL components, engineering practices, and tooling—spanning automation, observability, and intelligent diagnostics—while embracing both proven techniques and cutting-edge innovations. We are building the next generation of distributed scale-out capabilities for PostgreSQL via Citus as well as seamless data integration solutions to power business analytics and insights thru Microsoft Fabric. We are looking for Senior Software Engineer who is passionate and highly motivated to work on researching, solving deep technical problems, and taking on new challenges. In this role you will collaborate with some of the world's leading experts in this area of technology to work on the internals of enterprise class relational database engines, solve hard problems, and build a highly scalable and reliable data service.  

Responsibilities
• Design, produce and deliver software to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, security, efficiency, etc. of a service. • Contribute with fixing, enhancing, and supporting our services in production and collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement innovative solutions that enhance scalability and performance. • Participate actively in code reviews, bug/issue triage with the feature teams, and support well informed decisions towards business and engineering goals by ensuring the delivery of high-quality code and solutions. • Stay up to date with the latest trends in distributed databases, cloud technologies, and related fields to drive continuous improvement. • Contribute to the open-source community and engage with customers to understand their needs and requirements.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications • Solid work experience as a developer • Experience programming in C, C++, C#, Java, Ruby, Python or other computer programming languages preferred.   • Strong technical prowess, including understanding of algorithms, systems architecture, and end-user experience.   • Background on end-to-end ownership of complex software systems • Degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline Preferred Qualifications • Experience developing PostgreSQL engine, extensions or tools • Experience with large scale services, distributed systems • Demonstrated excellence in coding, technical communication, problem solving and debugging skills • Strong customer focus and data driven approach • Adaptability in fast paced environment, great collaboration and team-player skills   Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
