Google is seeking a Systems Development Engineer II to manage services and systems at scale within AI Infrastructure. You'll work with Linux, Python, and container orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes. This position requires 2-3 years of relevant experience.
You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related IT field, or possess equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of experience in systems automation, you have a solid foundation in technical infrastructure, including deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting. You are familiar with systems design and implementation, ideally with 3 years of experience in this area. You understand the importance of observability in systems management and are passionate about automating processes to enhance operational efficiency. You thrive in collaborative environments and value mentorship and community support in your work.
As a Systems Development Engineer II at Google, you will manage services and systems at scale, focusing on automating mundane tasks to reduce toil. You will develop tools and solutions that address classes of problems rather than just fixing individual bugs. Your role will involve instrumenting systems for observability, turning data into actionable insights, and ensuring the operational efficiency of Google’s systems and services. You will work closely with customers to define distributed systems requirements and testing procedures, contributing to the overall improvement of systems and services through bug reports and consultations. You will also respond to technical issues and tickets within team-defined service-level objectives (SLOs), ensuring that systems run smoothly and efficiently.
At Google, you will be part of a diverse team that encourages collaboration and innovation. You will have the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that impact the environment and the bottom line. We provide a supportive environment that fosters self-direction and professional growth, allowing you to take risks and think big. You will be part of a culture that values mentorship and community, ensuring that you have the resources and support needed to succeed in your role.
