Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Solutions Architect to join our thriving technical community and growing public sector business in California. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive team, working together to bring the latest in cloud computing technologies to organizations serving the public.
As a Principal Solutions Architect, you will serve as a strategic advisor across California State Government, providing technical leadership guidance and developing market-specific technical strategies. You will be responsible for informing AWS senior leaders' business and technical decisions, leveraging your broad market awareness to anticipate industry trends and customer needs. Your impact will extend beyond individual customers, as you will support broader organizational initiatives across multiple agencies.
In this role, your creativity and strategic technical experience will support customers at an executive level to solve complex business challenges and drive transformational change. You will be a thought leader, initiating the creation and sharing of best practices, technical content, and new reference architectures while evangelizing AWS technology.
This role will contribute to shaping the future of cloud computing technology across California State Government.

* You develop and mentor other Solutions Architects, ensuring the continued growth of the community
This position is based in Sacramento, CA and may require up to 30% travel.

- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent
- Experience developing technology solutions and evangelising end-to-end technology roadmaps that guide IT transformations toward cloud computing
- Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, publications- Knowledge of distributed systems design and implementation or equivalent
- Knowledge of large scale automation and workflow management or equivalent
- Knowledge of database design and implementation or equivalent
- Knowledge of presentations and whiteboarding skills with a high degree of comfort speaking with internal and external executives, IT management, and developers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $284,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
