C

Overview

G2i Inc. is hiring a Software Engineer, AI to help train large-language models for code evaluation and training. You'll work primarily with C and focus on code correctness, efficiency, and style. This role requires 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience in C, demonstrating a strong command of the language and its intricacies. Your code-review instincts are sharp—you can quickly spot logic errors, performance traps, and security issues, ensuring that the code you evaluate meets high standards of quality. You possess extreme attention to detail and excellent written communication skills, as much of this role involves explaining the rationale behind your evaluations and critiques. You thrive in an asynchronous, low-oversight environment, enjoying the challenge of reading documentation and language specifications to enhance your understanding of coding practices.

While prior experience with Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback (RLHF) or AI training is not required, your ability to review and critique code clearly is essential. You are eager to learn and adapt, ready to embrace new concepts and methodologies as you contribute to the training of large-language models. Your passion for software engineering drives you to continuously improve your skills and knowledge, making you a valuable asset to any team.

Desirable

Experience with constraint programming is a bonus, but not a requirement. If you have a background in related fields or have worked on projects that involve code evaluation or AI, this could enhance your application.

What you'll do

In this role, you will help train large-language models (LLMs) to write production-grade code across a wide range of programming languages. Your primary responsibilities will include comparing and ranking multiple code snippets, explaining which is best and why. You will also be tasked with repairing and refactoring AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, and style, ensuring that the output meets industry standards.

You will inject feedback, including ratings, edits, and test results, into the RLHF pipeline, keeping it running smoothly. Your contributions will directly impact the model's ability to propose, critique, and improve code in a manner similar to expert engineers. The end result of your work will be a model that learns to generate code that is not only functional but also adheres to best practices in software development.

You will collaborate with a team of engineers, sharing insights and feedback to refine the training process. Your role will require you to engage with documentation and language specifications, ensuring that you are well-versed in the nuances of the programming languages involved. You will also participate in discussions about code quality and best practices, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

What we offer

This position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while maintaining a flexible schedule. Compensation ranges from $30/hr to $70/hr, depending on your location and seniority, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week and the option to work up to 40 hours. As a 1099 contractor, you will have the opportunity to engage in straightforward work that has a significant impact on the development of AI technologies. If this sounds like a fit, we encourage you to apply and join us in shaping the future of code evaluation and training.
