SpaceX is hiring a Propulsion Engineer to ensure the flightworthiness of engine hardware and software throughout the life cycle. You'll work on the Merlin propulsion systems and collaborate with various engineering disciplines. You have a background in mechanical engineering with experience in propulsion systems — you understand the complexities of ensuring flightworthiness and have a strong grasp of engine hardware and software life cycles. You are detail-oriented and possess excellent problem-solving skills, allowing you to exercise risk-conscious decision-making under pressure. Your ability to collaborate with engineers and technicians from various disciplines makes you an effective team player. You are passionate about space exploration and committed to driving initiatives that enhance engine reliability and reusability.
Experience with aerospace engineering or related fields is a plus — familiarity with testing and qualification processes for propulsion systems will set you apart. You have a proactive approach to learning and adapting to new technologies, and you thrive in fast-paced environments where innovation is key.
As a Propulsion Engineer at SpaceX, you will own critical spaceflight hardware and lead the development and qualification test campaigns for the Merlin engine. Your responsibilities will include performing design, analysis, and development engineering tasks, as well as engaging in flight operations for the Merlin propulsion systems. You will work closely with production, test, launch, avionics, and software teams to ensure mission success. Your role will involve driving reliability-improving initiatives and maintaining the long-term success of the Falcon launch vehicle. You will also interact with commercial and governmental customers to ensure their needs are met and that all processes are aligned with mission objectives.
