You have a strong background in educational design and a passion for creating engaging learning experiences. With at least 5 years of experience in learning design or a related field, you understand how to leverage storytelling and technology to enhance language acquisition. You possess excellent leadership skills, having successfully managed multidisciplinary teams and fostered a collaborative environment. Your ability to think creatively and strategically allows you to set a vision that aligns with educational goals and user needs. You are data-driven, using metrics to inform your decisions and improve learning outcomes. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are excited about the opportunity to innovate in the field of language learning.

What you'll do

As the Director of Learning Design, you will be responsible for setting the vision for Duolingo’s immersive language learning experiences. You will lead a team of learning designers, guiding them in the development of long-form, narrative, and audio-first content. Collaborating closely with product, design, and engineering teams, you will translate pedagogical principles into compelling storytelling experiences that enhance listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. You will oversee the production of engaging content such as Stories, DuoRadio, and Adventures, ensuring that they meet the needs of our diverse user base. Your role will involve continuous experimentation and iteration, using user feedback and data analytics to refine and improve the learning experiences. You will also represent the learning design team in strategic discussions, advocating for innovative approaches to language education.
