Staff Engineer - Java Full Stack - Futures Engineering

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development using Java. You’ve successfully built and maintained scalable applications and have a deep understanding of microservices architecture. Your expertise in RESTful APIs allows you to create efficient and reliable services that meet user needs.

You are proficient in front-end technologies, particularly ReactJS, and understand how to integrate UI components with backend services seamlessly. Your experience with event-driven architectures, especially using Apache Kafka, enables you to handle real-time data processing effectively.

You are familiar with containerization and orchestration technologies, particularly Docker and Kubernetes, and have deployed applications in cloud environments. Your commitment to optimizing application performance, security, and reliability is evident in your work.

What you'll do

As a Staff Engineer at Clear Street, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining our enterprise Cleared Derivatives back-office system. You will architect, develop, and optimize server-side applications, focusing on building scalable microservices using Java. Your responsibilities will include implementing RESTful APIs that serve as the backbone of our services.

You will contribute to front-end development using ReactJS, ensuring that UI components are well-integrated with backend services. Your role will also involve optimizing application performance and security, ensuring that our systems are reliable and efficient.

You will deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes clusters, ensuring high availability and scalability. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will provide technical support and guidance, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise.

In addition to your technical responsibilities, you will be involved in mentoring junior developers, sharing your expertise, and fostering a collaborative team culture. You will participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes.
