Senior Messaging Service Engineer

Who you are

You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field, and you bring over 10 years of experience in messaging systems, with at least 5 years focused on Kafka. Your strong understanding of Kafka includes managing clusters, installation, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting. You are adept at optimizing Kafka performance and ensuring high availability and reliability of messaging systems. You implement security best practices for Kafka, including encryption and access control, and you are committed to staying up to date with the latest developments in messaging technologies.

You possess excellent collaboration skills, allowing you to work effectively with software development teams to integrate Kafka messaging solutions into applications. You are also passionate about providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, helping them grow in their roles. Your intellectual curiosity drives you to propose improvements and innovations in messaging technologies.

Desirable

Experience with additional messaging technologies or frameworks would be a plus, as would familiarity with enterprise agile methodologies. You thrive in environments that encourage professional development and innovation, and you are eager to contribute to a team that is at the forefront of a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable messaging solutions using Kafka. You will manage Kafka clusters, ensuring they are installed, configured, monitored, and troubleshot effectively. Collaborating with software development teams, you will integrate Kafka messaging solutions into applications, optimizing performance and ensuring high availability and reliability of messaging systems. You will implement security best practices for Kafka, including encryption and access control, and develop and maintain documentation for Kafka systems and related processes.

You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their growth and development. Staying current with the latest developments in messaging technologies, you will propose improvements and participate in on-call rotation to support production systems as needed. Your contributions will help Point72 reimagine the future of investing through innovative technology solutions.
