Senior Software Engineer II - Backend, Flywheel

Who you are

You have 5+ years of backend engineering experience building production systems at scale — you've owned services from design through deployment and have war stories from debugging complex distributed systems issues. You possess deep expertise in Java and Spring — you've shipped high-throughput APIs that handle millions of requests and have strong opinions on service architecture, dependency injection, and testing strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and researchers to deliver exceptional user experiences. You are comfortable implementing experiments that provide valuable insights and drive continuous improvement. You understand the importance of data management architecture and have experience building systems that effectively route leads to the right sales representatives at the right time. You are passionate about creating tools that empower users and enhance their productivity. You are adaptable and eager to learn new technologies and methodologies as you contribute to HubSpot's growth.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms and microservices architecture would be a plus, as well as familiarity with agile methodologies and CI/CD practices. A background in working with sales or customer engagement tools can also be beneficial.

As a Senior Backend Engineer on the Flywheel team, you will write and ship production code that has a meaningful user and business impact. You will envision, build, and analyze new features and tools, each contributing to company growth and revenue. You will collaborate with a small cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, content designers, and researchers to ensure that HubSpot users can meet their goals effectively. You will help design and implement systems that support HubSpot's enterprise Flywheel, focusing on attracting and engaging potential customers. You will be responsible for building tools on the HubSpot platform that enhance the performance of front-line reps and operations teams. You will also implement experiments that provide valuable insights into user behavior and system performance, allowing for data-driven decision-making. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of HubSpot's sales processes, enabling the company to scale and deliver exceptional customer experiences.
