SpaceX is hiring a Tube Bender to join their sheet metal technician team at Starbase, TX. You'll be responsible for fabricating precision tube assemblies for the Starship vehicle, requiring hands-on mechanical skills and experience with CNC bending machines.
You possess a solid mechanical knowledge and have hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment. With at least 1 year of experience, you are eager to learn and adapt to new challenges. You have experience working with thin-walled tubing and materials such as Inconel, titanium, aluminum, nickel, and stainless steel. Your familiarity with CNC bending machines and control systems, particularly Crippa, BLM, or Horn bending machines, sets you apart. You are detail-oriented and capable of working to close tolerances while ensuring high-quality standards in your work.
As a Tube Bender at SpaceX, you will coordinate activities with technicians and support functions throughout all tube bending operations, including tube preparation, flaring, CNC bending, inspection, and cleaning. You will set up, operate, and supervise the operation of all tube-bending equipment, ensuring that all processes meet the required specifications. Working closely with engineering, you will help prove out designs to blueprints with minimal fixtures and short schedules. You will also be responsible for solving tube fitment issues and documenting changes for further development work. Additionally, you will develop and manage actions to improve both quality and productivity in the tube bending process.
