SpaceX is seeking a Senior Wireless Firmware Engineer to develop novel wireless signal processing algorithms for satellite-based connectivity. You'll work with C, C++, and Embedded Linux to optimize software for satellites and ground stations. This role requires expertise in wireless communication and signal processing.
You have 5+ years of experience in wireless firmware engineering, with a strong background in developing physical layer (PHY) algorithms for satellite-based communication systems. Your expertise in C and C++ allows you to implement optimized software that runs efficiently on resource-constrained CPUs. You are comfortable with debugging complex systems and performance issues, and you have a solid understanding of wireless communication protocols, including 4G/5G technologies.
You possess a deep knowledge of signal processing techniques and have experience in developing models and running simulations to analyze system performance. Your collaborative nature enables you to work closely with wireless systems engineers and protocol firmware engineers, driving interdisciplinary solutions to complex challenges. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for innovation in the field of wireless technology.
Experience with satellite communication systems and familiarity with LTE/NR standards will be advantageous. A background in developing production software and a keen interest in space technology will set you apart as a candidate. In this role, you will design and implement physical layer algorithms for satellite-based 4G/5G eNodeB/gNodeB systems. Your responsibilities will include identifying and debugging complex performance issues across the wireless PHY and MAC layers, as well as participating in architecture and design discussions to enhance system capabilities.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate wireless PHY development, contributing to the overall success of the direct-to-cell program. Your work will involve maintaining and documenting the wireless PHY and MAC layers of the protocol stack, ensuring that all components function seamlessly together. You will also be responsible for validating system performance through rigorous testing and simulation.
