Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Senior Wireless Firmware Engineer to develop novel wireless signal processing algorithms for satellite-based connectivity. You'll work with C, C++, and Embedded Linux to optimize software for satellites and ground stations. This role requires expertise in wireless communication and signal processing.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in wireless firmware engineering, with a strong background in developing physical layer (PHY) algorithms for satellite-based communication systems. Your expertise in C and C++ allows you to implement optimized software that runs efficiently on resource-constrained CPUs. You are comfortable with debugging complex systems and performance issues, and you have a solid understanding of wireless communication protocols, including 4G/5G technologies.

You possess a deep knowledge of signal processing techniques and have experience in developing models and running simulations to analyze system performance. Your collaborative nature enables you to work closely with wireless systems engineers and protocol firmware engineers, driving interdisciplinary solutions to complex challenges. You are detail-oriented and have a passion for innovation in the field of wireless technology.

Desirable

Experience with satellite communication systems and familiarity with LTE/NR standards will be advantageous. A background in developing production software and a keen interest in space technology will set you apart as a candidate. You are eager to contribute to a mission-driven company like SpaceX, where your work will have a direct impact on global connectivity from space.

What you'll do

In this role, you will design and implement physical layer algorithms for satellite-based 4G/5G eNodeB/gNodeB systems. You will develop optimized signal processing algorithms that run on resource-constrained CPUs, ensuring high performance and reliability. Your responsibilities will include identifying and debugging complex performance issues across the wireless PHY and MAC layers, as well as participating in architecture and design discussions to enhance system capabilities.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to accelerate wireless PHY development, contributing to the overall success of the direct-to-cell program. Your work will involve maintaining and documenting the wireless PHY and MAC layers of the protocol stack, ensuring that all components function seamlessly together. You will also be responsible for validating system performance through rigorous testing and simulation.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a pioneering team that is shaping the future of global connectivity. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, along with the opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology that aims to connect people around the world from space. You will have the chance to grow your skills in a challenging and rewarding environment, surrounded by talented professionals who share your passion for innovation and exploration.
