Overview
NewsBreak is seeking an AI Development Intern to assist in building and shipping core app experiences. You'll work with technologies like JavaScript and Python, focusing on integrating AI-powered features. This is an entry-level position ideal for those with app development experience.
Job Description
Who you are
You are an aspiring AI Engineer with app development experience — you understand the intricacies of building mobile applications and have a keen interest in integrating AI features. You are familiar with on-device machine learning concepts and have a basic understanding of model inference constraints. You are comfortable working with product, design, and engineering teams to iterate quickly and make impactful trade-offs. You have experience with experimentation and metrics, and you are eager to learn more about analytics instrumentation and A/B testing. You are a proactive learner who is excited about the opportunity to contribute to a high-growth company.
Desirable
You have experience shipping a 0→1 mobile app or owning a feature end-to-end, which showcases your ability to take projects from concept to completion. Familiarity with backend technologies, such as APIs and databases, is a plus but not required. You are motivated to improve performance and reliability in app experiences, ensuring smooth user interactions and crash-free sessions.
What you'll do
In this role, you will build and ship core app experiences end-to-end, focusing on screens, state management, networking, and navigation. You will integrate with backend APIs to deliver key user flows, including authentication, feeds, and user interactions. Your responsibilities will also include improving the app's performance and reliability, addressing startup time, smooth scrolling, memory usage, and ensuring crash-free sessions. You will work closely with product, design, and engineering teams to iterate quickly and make strong trade-offs that enhance user experience. Additionally, you will help prototype and integrate AI-powered features, with the scope of your work depending on the project.
What we offer
At NewsBreak, you will be part of a dynamic team that is shaping the future of content intelligence. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment where your contributions will have a real impact on the product. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Join us in our mission to build the infrastructure layer for content intelligence and be part of a company recognized as a great place to work.
