Backend Software Engineer - Reference Data Services

Who you are

You have a strong background in backend engineering with experience in building production systems that handle large volumes of data. You are proficient in Go and have a solid understanding of gRPC, enabling you to design efficient APIs that meet the needs of various stakeholders. Your experience with Python allows you to contribute to data processing tasks and integrate with existing systems seamlessly.

You are familiar with database technologies, particularly PostgreSQL, and understand how to optimize queries for performance. Your knowledge of cloud data warehousing solutions like Snowflake helps you manage and analyze large datasets effectively. You have experience with message brokers such as Kafka, which is essential for building scalable data pipelines.

You are comfortable working with caching solutions like Redis to enhance the performance of data retrieval processes. Your familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes enables you to deploy and manage applications in a cloud-native environment. You thrive in collaborative settings and enjoy working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality data products.

What you'll do

As a Backend Engineer on the FACT team, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining key data services that support Clear Street's operations. You will design and implement APIs that provide access to critical reference datasets, ensuring they are accurate and delivered in a timely manner. Your role will involve collaborating with data engineers and analysts to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions.

You will work on integrating various data sources, including vendor feeds and internal systems, to create a cohesive data product that serves as the authoritative source of reference data within the firm. Your expertise in API design will be crucial in building services that are flexible and responsive to user needs.

You will also be involved in performance optimization efforts, utilizing caching strategies and robust signaling to enhance the efficiency of data access. Monitoring and troubleshooting production systems will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly to maintain service reliability.
