Overview

SpaceX is seeking a Supervisor for their Materials Lab to manage a team of technicians and specialists. You'll oversee thermal and characterization areas, ensuring quality and efficiency in lab operations. This role requires strong leadership and organizational skills.

Who you are

You have a strong background in materials engineering and possess excellent leadership skills — you thrive in managing teams and ensuring high-quality lab operations. Your experience includes supervising technical staff and coordinating with engineering departments to prioritize work effectively. You are proactive in identifying training needs and developing programs to enhance team performance. You understand the importance of safety and efficiency in a lab environment and are committed to driving improvements.

Desirable

Experience in thermal and characterization processes is a plus, as well as familiarity with lab equipment maintenance and workflow optimization. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for problem-solving, which helps you manage shop floor activities effectively. Your ability to communicate expectations clearly and motivate your team sets you apart as a leader.

What you'll do

In this role, you will supervise daily activities in the Materials Lab, ensuring that schedules and workflows are adhered to. You will lead a team of technicians and specialists, managing performance and providing guidance to help them grow in their roles. Your responsibilities will include reviewing work instructions and making recommendations for changes to improve processes. You will also monitor labor hours and implement improvement plans to enhance time management within the team.

You will coordinate with engineering and other departments to ensure that work orders are prioritized according to company production and R&D needs. Your role will involve defining equipment maintenance plans and collaborating with vendors to address any issues with aging or broken equipment. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety and quality within the lab, ensuring that all team members adhere to best practices.
