Operations Manager, Global Server Operations

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with 10 years of experience managing technical teams responsible for installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, or maintaining hardware servers and their components. Your background includes site-level data center operations, where you've built and managed leadership teams and developed managers. You are experienced in working with network architecture and operating systems, particularly Linux, and you possess the ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, night shifts, and holidays as required.

You have a proven track record in managing data center operations, including compute and network architecture, infrastructure lifecycles, and Linux/Unix system administration. Your leadership experience includes successfully managing high-stakes operations within 24/7 environments, including remote teams and distributed workforces. You are committed to improving Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives and implementing a safety culture at the site level, fostering a collaborative team environment while driving high-performance results.

Desirable

What you'll do

In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of Google’s Global Server Operations, ensuring that technical teams are effectively managing hardware servers and their components. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of these servers, ensuring alignment with organizational policies. Your role will involve repairing, fixing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, and infrastructure based on identified issues. You will support the implementation of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and other compliance programs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure safety incidents are investigated, resolved, and reported.

You will lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness, driving improvements in team performance and safety standards. Your ability to foster a collaborative team environment will be crucial as you work to align team goals with organizational objectives. You will also be responsible for mentoring and developing team members, ensuring they have the skills and support needed to succeed in their roles.
