Staff Design Release Engineer, Sensors

Who you are

You are a highly motivated engineer with a strong background in design release and integration of sensor systems for autonomous vehicles. With at least 5 years of experience in mechanical and electrical engineering, you have a proven track record of managing complex projects from concept to production. Your expertise includes working with various sensor technologies such as camera, radar, LiDAR, and ultrasonic systems. You possess excellent problem-solving skills and can effectively communicate technical concepts to cross-functional teams.

You have a deep understanding of the full product lifecycle, from initial design and architecture definition to sustaining engineering and continuous improvement. Your experience includes overseeing the generation and release of engineering documentation, ensuring that all specifications and test reports meet industry standards. You thrive in collaborative environments and are adept at managing supplier relationships to align on project objectives.

Your technical authority in sensor hardware design and integration allows you to drive projects that meet performance, cost, and timing objectives. You are detail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality results, ensuring that all aspects of the sensor system are thoroughly validated before production.

What you'll do

In this role, you will own the complete design release of sensor system hardware, including mechanical mounting, alignment, and electrical interface. You will drive technical execution for the full product lifecycle, ensuring that all sensor systems are designed to meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the generation and release of all engineering documentation, including models, drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), and specifications.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that all aspects of the sensor systems are integrated seamlessly into the vehicle platform. This includes managing supplier relationships and ensuring that all components meet the required specifications. You will also be responsible for validating the performance of the sensor systems through rigorous testing and analysis.

As a key member of the Design Release Engineering team, you will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance the design and functionality of the sensor systems. You will play a critical role in driving innovation within the team, leveraging your expertise to influence design decisions and improve overall product quality.
