Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 6 years of experience in product research within an applied research setting. Your background includes programming languages used for data manipulation and computational statistics, such as Python, R, MATLAB, C++, Java, or Go. You may also hold a Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field. Your experience includes conducting UX research on products and collaborating with executive leadership, particularly at the Director level and above. You are familiar with psychophysical studies and have a strong command of descriptive, inferential, and multivariate statistics, including t-tests and ANOVA, as well as experimental design. You possess excellent knowledge of research questions in cognitive, perceptual, and behavioral areas of user experience, along with technical tools for data analysis in that field.

Desirable

You have a deep understanding of user experience research methodologies and are comfortable working with complex data sets. Your ability to develop code and statistical models to analyze user experience is a key asset. You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to gather insights about user attitudes, emotions, needs, and behaviors.

What you'll do

In this role, you will conduct empirical research using methods from computer science, quantitative social science, statistics, econometrics, and other fields to understand user behavior and extract meaningful patterns from data sets. You will develop code and statistical models to analyze user experience, examining existing data and product designs to generate hypotheses and plans for high-impact research. Your work will directly contribute to improving the user experience of Google's products, ensuring that user needs are at the forefront of design decisions. You will collaborate with UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers to inspire and inform design through research insights. Your findings will help shape the direction of product development and enhance the overall user experience.

What we offer

At Google, we follow a simple but vital premise: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As part of the User Experience (UX) team, you will play an integral role in gathering insights that inform design and product decisions. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. You will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where your contributions will have a significant impact on the user experience of millions of users worldwide. We offer competitive compensation and a supportive culture that fosters professional growth and development.
