Overview

Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician to manage the uptime and maintenance of electrical systems in their data center. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial or commercial environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of electrical experience, you are familiar with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution in industrial or commercial environments. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and you understand the importance of using safety equipment in accordance with EHS guidelines. You are flexible and can work non-standard hours and shifts, adapting to the needs of the data center environment.

Desirable

You have additional experience in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or in a construction or technical environment. Your background includes working in data centers, hospitals, or power plants, giving you a solid understanding of the electrical systems used in these settings. You possess knowledge of feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, and other critical components of data center infrastructure.

What you'll do

In this role, you will manage the uptime and maintenance of UPS, generators, electrical distribution, and control and monitoring systems. You will operate, monitor, and maintain data center facilities systems and equipment, responding to any abnormal conditions that arise. Your responsibilities will include supporting the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure. You will also communicate effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on the data center systems, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards.
