You'll work on subscription lifecycle management and cross-product workflows using your expertise in system architecture. This role requires significant experience in backend engineering.

Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in backend engineering, particularly in building scalable systems that support complex product environments. Your background includes a strong focus on system architecture, where you've successfully designed and implemented solutions that enhance user experiences across multiple products. You thrive in ambiguous problem spaces and enjoy tackling challenges that require innovative thinking and technical expertise.

Your technical skills include a deep understanding of subscription lifecycle management and entitlements, which are critical for managing user interactions with products. You have a proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, Design, and Engineering Managers, to align on technical strategies and roadmaps. You are comfortable driving technical direction and influencing adoption of new system patterns across teams.

You are adept at working with various technologies and frameworks that support multi-product environments. Your experience includes designing developer platforms and reusable frameworks that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of product teams. You are passionate about building systems that not only meet current needs but also anticipate future growth and scalability.

Desirable

Experience with commerce and identity systems is a plus, as it aligns with the core responsibilities of this role. Familiarity with data and transactional consistency models will further enhance your ability to contribute to the team. You are always looking to expand your skill set and stay updated with industry trends, which helps you bring fresh ideas to the table.

What you'll do

As a Staff Engineer on the Multi-Product Experience team, you will architect and deliver high-impact systems that power multi-product checkout, trials, and subscription lifecycle management. Your role will involve defining and driving the technical strategy for the Core Switchboard and MPE platform components, ensuring that they are robust and scalable.

You will partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, and multiple product teams to align on cross-product roadmaps and integration efforts. This collaboration will be essential in shaping the future of how Dropbox’s products work together, enhancing user experiences and driving conversion rates.

Your responsibilities will include designing the technical foundations that support subscription lifecycle management and entitlements. You will play a critical role in improving existing systems and implementing new features that reduce friction for users and unlock expansion opportunities.

You will also be involved in setting technical direction across teams, driving the adoption of new system patterns, and ensuring that best practices are followed in system design and implementation. Your contributions will have a significant impact on the overall success of Dropbox’s product suite.

What we offer

At Dropbox, we offer a competitive salary range for this role, with compensation varying based on your location within the United States. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment that values innovation and technical excellence. Our team is committed to supporting your professional growth and providing you with the resources you need to succeed.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. We believe that diverse teams build better products, and we are looking for individuals who are excited about the opportunity to shape the future of work through technology.
