Job Description

Amazon Canada is seeking an experienced business leader to join our Hardlines category team as a Senior Vendor Manager. In this role, you'll be responsible for managing the P&L and setting the strategic direction for a large, diverse business within the Hardlines category. You'll work with strategic vendors to drive business growth, analyze data to identify key brands, build long-term relationships, resolve operational and business issues, and lead negotiations on Amazon's behalf. The ideal candidate has a track record of driving significant top and bottom line results, builds strong relationships, and thrives in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.

As Senior Vendor Manager, you must possess strong analytical acumen and be comfortable drawing data-driven conclusions. We're looking for someone with deep curiosity about how things work and a passion for creating a world-class shopping experience for our customers. You should stay current on industry and competitive trends, executing both tactical and strategic initiatives to drive selection, sales, and margin growth while improving customer experience.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong business judgment, a history of successful negotiations, and the ability to manage a full P&L, including planning, forecasting, and driving online business growth. You'll need excellent project management and organizational skills to handle various vendors and strategic programs within the category. As an effective leader and communicator, you'll work with Amazon.ca partners, vendors, and internal teams such as inventory management, site merchandising, marketing, finance, operations, and software development to deliver innovation and enhance customer experience. Your leadership presence and communication skills should enable you to represent Amazon at all executive levels of vendor organizations.


Key job responsibilities
• Define a customer-centric vision and business strategy for the category, establishing clear North Star metric(s) and KPIs to measure customer impact and business results.

• Manage the category P&L with a long-term perspective, developing data-driven plans to sustainably improve revenue and margins while balancing short-term and long-term trade-offs.

• Cultivate strategic vendor relationships through transparent negotiations and collaborative growth initiatives.

• Continuously innovate to enhance the customer experience, driving broad adoption by simplifying processes and removing friction points.

• Develop and implement clear, analytical frameworks for day-to-day decision-making, seeking diverse perspectives to challenge assumptions and improve outcomes.

• Lead project execution with a bias for action, creating detailed project plans and holding teams accountable for high-quality, timely deliverables.

• Drive cross-functional commitments from Marketing, Engineering, and Category Management teams, fostering open dialogue and aligning on shared goals.

• Conduct thorough analysis of key inputs and their downstream effects on pricing, selection, and convenience across subcategories, using data to inform strategic decisions and identify areas for improvement.


A day in the life
As a Senior Vendor Manager, your typical day involves:

• Cultivating vendor relationships to drive long-term business growth
• Negotiating contracts and developing Joint Business Plans with vendors
• Analyzing category metrics to prepare for weekly business reviews
• Collaborating with vendors and internal teams to expand product selection
• Finalizing promotional plans for upcoming events
• Working with cross-functional teams to develop and implement new product features
• Identifying and executing strategies to improve sales and margins
• Creating and refining customer experiences to maintain best-in-class standards

This role requires you to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day operations, always keeping the customer and business results at the forefront of your decisions.- 5+ years of account management, project or program management or buying experience
- 5+ years of with Excel experience
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience using data to influence business decisions
- Experience driving internal cross-team collaboration
- Experience with business analysis and P&L management- MBA
- Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $109,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
