SpaceX is hiring a Sheet Metal Technician (Metal Cutting) to prepare and operate the Shear Machine while managing material inventory. This role requires 3+ years of experience with precision equipment and the ability to read blueprints.
You have a high school diploma or equivalency certificate and at least 3 years of experience working with precision equipment such as scales, calipers, height gauges, and micrometers. You possess a minimum of 1 year of experience with the setup and operation of a JMT Shear Machine or any Shear Brand Machine. Your ability to read blueprints and understand geometric tolerances is essential for ensuring the accuracy of the finished parts. You are capable of meeting daily and weekly production goals while adhering to critical time schedules. Your experience in material handling and production coordination is vital for managing the Sheet Metal material inventory effectively.
As a Sheet Metal Technician, you will prepare, run, setup, and operate the Shear Machine, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. You will be responsible for preparing and shearing materials, issuing them electronically, and submitting RFPOs as needed. Managing the Sheet Metal material inventory will be a key part of your role, which includes receiving incoming materials and properly scanning them to their designated locations. You will also be tasked with ensuring overall area safety and meeting delivery targets while finding creative ways to increase product reliability and efficiency. Your understanding of blueprint reading and geometric tolerances will be crucial in relating these concepts to the finished parts you produce.
