SpaceX is seeking a Turbomachinery Engineer to design and develop the next generation of turbopumps for the Raptor engine. You'll be responsible for the design, development, and qualification of rocket turbopumps, requiring expertise in mechanical design and analysis.

Who you are

You are a highly motivated engineer with a strong background in turbomachinery design and development. With experience in designing and testing turbopumps for liquid-fueled rocket engines, you understand the complexities of aerodynamics and hydrodynamics. You have a proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring that designs meet manufacturing goals while adhering to aggressive schedules. Your analytical skills allow you to perform detailed mechanical analysis on turbopump components and systems, ensuring reliability and performance.

You possess a broad understanding of turbomachinery systems and are comfortable taking ownership of critical components. Your experience includes conducting flowpath design and analysis for impellers and diffusers, demonstrating your capability to lead projects from concept to flight. You thrive in fast-paced environments and are driven by the challenge of pushing the boundaries of aerospace technology.

Desirable

Experience with rocket propulsion systems or aerospace applications is a plus. Familiarity with advanced manufacturing techniques and materials will enhance your contributions to the team. You are eager to learn and adapt, continuously seeking ways to improve designs and processes.

What you'll do

As a Turbomachinery Engineer at SpaceX, you will lead the design and development of turbopumps for the Raptor engine. Your responsibilities will include conducting aerodynamic and hydrodynamic analyses, ensuring that designs meet performance and reliability standards. You will collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to ensure that designs are feasible and cost-effective, while also meeting stringent weight requirements.

You will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of turbomachinery components, from initial concept through testing and qualification.
