Overview

Affirm is seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager to oversee high visibility programs and streamline processes for building customer and merchant products. You'll coordinate across engineering teams and manage program schedules. This role requires strong technical understanding and program management experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have extensive experience in technical program management, ideally with a background in software development or engineering. You understand the complexities of managing multi-disciplinary programs and can navigate the challenges that come with scaling products and processes. Your ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders sets you apart, as you can bridge the gap between teams and ensure alignment on project goals.

You possess a strong technical acumen, allowing you to understand implementation at the architecture level. This enables you to propose technical alternatives and ask the right questions to clarify priorities. You thrive in environments where you can push teams to be effective and drive quality outcomes. Your experience in developing processes and frameworks for building quality software is a key asset.

You are motivated by the mission of expanding product capabilities and enhancing customer experiences. You have a track record of driving complex programs to successful completion, demonstrating your ability to manage risks and resolve dependencies effectively. Your organizational skills and attention to detail ensure that program schedules are adhered to and that all stakeholders are kept informed throughout the lifecycle of the project.

Desirable

Experience with agile methodologies and tools is a plus, as is familiarity with product management practices. You may have worked in fintech or a related industry, giving you insights into the unique challenges and opportunities in this space. A background in software engineering or a related field can further enhance your ability to contribute to the technical discussions that arise in this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will drive complex, multi-disciplinary technical programs that are critical to Affirm's mission of expanding its consumer product suite. You will coordinate across engineering teams and non-engineering stakeholders, ensuring that all aspects of the program are aligned and on track. Your responsibilities will include planning requirements, identifying risks, managing program schedules, and communicating clearly with cross-functional partners.

You will work closely with Product and Engineering teams to develop processes and frameworks that enhance the quality of software being built. This involves evaluating new technology developments and assessing their potential to drive features and products that meet customer needs. You will track progress throughout the program lifecycle, resolving dependencies and ensuring that all teams are aligned on priorities.

Your role will require you to understand technical implementations at a deep level, allowing you to propose alternatives and clarify priorities effectively. You will be a key player in driving alignment across teams, ensuring that everyone is working towards the same goals and that any challenges are addressed promptly.

What we offer

At Affirm, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is committed to making credit more honest and accessible. We offer a collaborative work environment where your contributions will have a direct impact on our products and customers. You will have the opportunity to work with talented professionals who are passionate about technology and innovation.

We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement. We value diverse perspectives and believe that a variety of experiences can contribute to our success. Join us in our mission to transform the way consumers think about credit and financial products.
