Google is seeking a Site Reliability Engineering Manager to lead the Core Data team in Sydney. You'll manage large-scale distributed systems and ensure reliability and performance while utilizing your expertise in software development and systems engineering. This role requires 8+ years of experience in software development and team management.
You have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with 8 years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages. Your background includes at least 3 years of experience in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting distributed systems, as well as managing teams and leading projects. You possess a strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, and ideally, you hold a Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering. Your experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) has equipped you with the skills to build and run large-scale, fault-tolerant systems, ensuring reliability and uptime for critical services.
You thrive in environments that require intellectual curiosity and problem-solving skills. You are adept at optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and automating processes to eliminate manual work. Your leadership style fosters a culture of openness and collaboration, allowing your team to tackle complex challenges unique to large-scale systems.
Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS is a plus, as is familiarity with monitoring and alerting tools. You are comfortable with incident management and have a proactive approach to capacity planning and performance optimization. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams enhances your leadership capabilities.
As the Site Reliability Engineering Manager for Core Data at Google, you will develop and execute the strategy for the SRE team, aligning it with organizational goals. You will oversee on-call rotations across multiple continents, ensuring healthy practices and response times. Your role will involve designing, writing, and delivering software that improves the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Google's services.
