Xometry is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of systems for manufacturing intelligence. You'll work with Java and Machine Learning to predict manufacturing costs and challenges. This role requires at least 8 years of experience, including 4 years in a technical leadership position.

Who you are

You have over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on leading technical teams and projects. Your background includes at least 4 years in a technical leadership role, where you've guided teams through complex challenges and fostered a collaborative environment. You are comfortable with hands-on coding and troubleshooting, adopting a 'lead by example' approach that inspires your team. Your ability to mentor and teach others is a key strength, as you enjoy helping engineers grow their skills and advance their careers.

You possess a solid understanding of software development principles and practices, with a particular emphasis on creating scalable and efficient systems. While previous knowledge of manufacturing or machine learning is not required, you have a keen interest in these areas and are eager to learn. Your experience includes working in fast-paced environments where collaboration and innovation are paramount, and you thrive in cross-functional teams that iterate rapidly.

Desirable

Experience with machine learning models and their application in real-world scenarios is a plus. Familiarity with manufacturing processes or systems will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team. You are adaptable and open to exploring new technologies and methodologies that can improve the engineering processes.

What you'll do

As a Principal Software Engineer at Xometry, you will lead the technical design and engineering of systems that predict and remediate challenges in manufacturing. Your role will involve actively coding and troubleshooting, ensuring that the solutions developed are robust and effective. You will create documentation and technical diagrams to support the engineering efforts and facilitate knowledge sharing across the organization.
