Overview

Waymo is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to ensure the reliability of ML systems in autonomous driving technology. You'll collaborate with ML Engineers and Data Scientists, working with Python and TensorFlow. This role requires expertise in machine learning and deep learning.

Who you are

You have 5+ years of experience in machine learning and software engineering, with a strong foundation in building and deploying machine learning models at scale. Your expertise in Python and TensorFlow allows you to develop robust solutions that can handle complex data and ensure system reliability. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in autonomous driving technology.

Your background includes hands-on experience with deep learning frameworks and a solid understanding of machine learning principles. You are familiar with Kubernetes for deploying and managing ML workloads, and you have a keen interest in the latest advancements in AI and ML technologies. You are detail-oriented and have a strong problem-solving mindset, enabling you to tackle challenges in a fast-paced, experiment-driven development environment.

Desirable

Experience with reinforcement learning and large language models is a plus, as is familiarity with data pipelines and ML infrastructure. You are passionate about transforming large datasets into actionable insights and are eager to contribute to the development of cutting-edge autonomous driving solutions.

What you'll do

In this role, you will collaborate with Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists to develop and deploy state-of-the-art machine learning solutions that predict the future state of the world and plan the Waymo Driver’s behavior. You will ensure that our systems remain reliable amidst rapid development cycles, focusing on maintaining high performance and accuracy in our models. Your work will directly impact the safety and efficiency of autonomous vehicles, as you help to transform Waymo's unprecedented scale of driving data into robust, generalizable deep neural networks.

You will be responsible for designing experiments to validate model performance and iterating on solutions based on data-driven insights. Your contributions will help shape the future of mobility, as you work on projects that involve complex environments and real-world applications. You will also have the opportunity to mentor junior team members, sharing your knowledge and expertise to foster a culture of learning and growth within the team.

What we offer

Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
