Job Description

Are you passionate about working with Amazon-scale data, analytics/science, and state-of-the-art data infrastructure? Do you love bringing data together from diverse systems and sources, and solving complex analytics problems for creating deep understanding of customer behavior and generating actionable business insights? Does the idea of working closely with a partner team of product managers, operations leaders, machine-learning scientists, and software engineers excite you?
The Analytics Manager will lead a critical team of business-intelligence engineers leveraging massive, Amazon-scale data to help us improve decision-making, increase operational efficiency, and delight our customers with new and improved experiences. The team will sit within our Analytics and Science organization and operate in close partnership with product managers, scientists and engineers to combat existing and emerging risk vectors across Books businesses.
This is a dynamic role requiring a leader who is not afraid to think big, improve existing processes, build new ones, and collaborate across a large organization covering multiple businesses. They must be comfortable operating in an exciting, high-impact environment and use their strong communication skills to build and maintain trust with a cross-functional group of stakeholders and partners. They will own processes for analytics support across our businesses, covering data and infrastructure, metrics and reporting processes, and data governance. They will have a strong focus on consistency, clarity, and operational excellence of the team. They will also build compelling career paths across data, analytics, and science roles for their team and organization.

About the team
Minerva is a cross-functional organization of highly experienced scientists, business-intelligence engineers, data engineers, and software engineers with a critical business mission making revolutionary leaps forward using massive-scale data with advanced analytics and machine learning and helping democratize the publishing industry. We build science-based systems for marketing and content-discovery for indie (KDP) authors, fraud/abuse, and content risk. We also use science to optimize manufacturing, fulfillment, and quality processes for our Print On Demand (POD) business.- 10+ years of professional or military experience
- 5+ years of technical and functional experience leading large size teams
- Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
- Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.
- Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.- A master’s degree in a relevant field.
- More than 6 years of experience in related fields.
- Demonstrated track record of managing complex, high-impact projects.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in statistical analysis.
- Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to link analytics with business outcomes.
- Ability to develop, deploy, and manage data and analytics resources.
- Skills in forecasting and planning based on business trends and data insights.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with industry trends and technologies.
