Staff, Security Engineer - Coupang Play

Who you are

You have a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. You possess strong software engineering capabilities with experience in building secure applications and services. You are skilled in writing, reviewing, and optimizing code with security considerations in mind, such as secure coding patterns, input validation, and encryption. You have a solid understanding of cryptography, PKI, secure authentication protocols, and microservices environments. You are experienced in leading security initiatives and have a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities. You are comfortable working in a collaborative environment and mentoring others in security best practices.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead security initiatives to protect core assets and data from evolving threats through continuous improvement. You will act as a subject matter expert in security technologies, embedding security throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC). You will develop and maintain security-focused libraries, tools, and automation scripts that enforce security standards across services. Collaborating with engineering teams, you will implement Secure-by-Design principles in code, APIs, and infrastructure. You will participate in code reviews with a focus on identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities. You will work closely with software and platform engineers, as well as Coupang Infosec, to define and apply security policies, standards, and procedures. You will lead hands-on implementations and mentor team members to adopt security best practices. Additionally, you will conduct threat modeling for new and existing applications, evaluate, recommend, and implement security and governance tools, and lead penetration testing and vulnerability assessments. As the lead responder to security incidents, you will conduct detailed analysis and forensic investigations.
