Overview

SpaceX is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for the Raptor Avionics team to develop and qualify manufacturing processes for avionics production. You'll work with AutoCAD and Embedded Linux to ensure quality and efficiency in the production line.

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in engineering and have experience in manufacturing processes, particularly in avionics or related fields. You possess strong problem-solving skills and a holistic approach to production line management, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. You are comfortable interfacing with vendors and internal teams, demonstrating excellent communication skills. You have a keen eye for detail and are adept at creating and maintaining production work instructions and training documents. Your background includes experience with tools like AutoCAD and Embedded Linux, which you have used to optimize manufacturing processes. You are proactive in investigating failures and driving corrective actions to enhance production reliability.

Desirable

Experience with Python programming is a plus, as it can aid in automating processes and improving efficiency. Familiarity with avionics systems and their specific manufacturing challenges will be beneficial in this role.

What you'll do

As a Manufacturing Engineer on the Raptor Avionics team, you will be responsible for developing and qualifying manufacturing processes necessary for avionics production. You will build the line that assembles the parts, ensuring that all processes are optimized for speed and quality. You will maintain a sense of ownership over the production line, focusing on process consistency, tooling, ergonomics, and safety. Your role will involve creating and maintaining production work instructions and training documents to ensure that all team members are well-informed and equipped to perform their tasks effectively. You will oversee the introduction and implementation of new products and product revisions, often managing multiple projects simultaneously. Collaboration with production teams will be key to ensuring that the hardware you are responsible for is delivered on time or ahead of schedule. You will interface with vendors and the supply chain to facilitate new product introductions and changes, ensuring that all aspects of production run smoothly. Investigating failures and documenting findings will be part of your responsibilities, as you will drive corrective actions to enhance the reliability of the production line.
