Overview

Rackspace is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to automate deployments and architect AWS environments. You'll work with AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes, and other tools to improve cloud operations. This role requires 5-15 years of experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You have 5-15 years of experience in DevOps, particularly with AWS, and possess a strong understanding of automation tools and methodologies. Your expertise in Terraform, Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices allows you to efficiently manage and optimize cloud environments. You are skilled in using Jenkins and GitHub for continuous integration and deployment, and you have hands-on experience with Ansible for configuration management. Your background includes working on implementation and migration projects, where you've successfully automated deployments and improved operational efficiency.

You are a proactive communicator who enjoys educating customers on AWS best practices and architecture. You understand the importance of maintaining control, integrity, and accessibility of cloud environments for enterprises. Your ability to lead workload and workforce management tasks demonstrates your capability to optimize resources and enhance productivity within teams. You thrive in a collaborative environment and are eager to assist colleagues across the Cloud Function.

Desirable

Experience with additional cloud platforms or tools is a plus, as is familiarity with security best practices in cloud environments. You may also have experience in mentoring junior team members or leading small teams, which would further enhance your fit for this role.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be responsible for automating deployments utilizing custom templates and modules tailored for customer environments on AWS. You will architect AWS environment best practices and deployment methodologies, ensuring that all solutions are scalable and secure. Your day-to-day tasks will involve creating automation tools and processes that streamline operations and improve efficiency.

You will educate customers on AWS and Rackspace best practices, helping them understand how to leverage cloud technologies effectively. Your role will also include ensuring the control, integrity, and accessibility of the cloud environment for the enterprise, which is critical for maintaining high service levels.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will lead workload and workforce management tasks, optimizing resources and ensuring that the team operates at peak efficiency. You will collaborate closely with other Rackers across the Cloud Function, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
