Overview

Wikimedia is seeking a Senior Program Officer to implement funding strategies for Wikimedian communities in Northern & Western Europe. This role requires strong analytical skills and an understanding of community needs and geopolitical contexts.

Who you are

You have a strong background in program management, ideally with experience in grantmaking or community support initiatives. Your analytical skills allow you to assess regional and global patterns to inform funding strategies effectively. You understand the importance of knowledge equity and are committed to supporting underrepresented communities. You are adept at designing program activities that achieve significant and scalable impact, ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Your experience includes managing portfolios and monitoring grant implementations to ensure they meet established criteria and impact objectives. You are comfortable working in a remote environment and can communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across different regions.

What you'll do

In this role, you will implement the Community Resources grantmaking strategy, taking into account community needs and opportunities. You will analyze regional geopolitical and cultural contexts to shape funding rationales and priorities. Your responsibilities will include designing program activities in collaboration with colleagues to maximize impact. You will manage and monitor the regional grant portfolio, ensuring alignment with the Wikimedia Foundation's strategic goals. You will lead annual grant planning processes and engage with various stakeholders to ensure that the funding strategies are effectively communicated and executed. You will also be responsible for evaluating the success of funded projects and making recommendations for future funding initiatives.
