Overview

Google is seeking a Senior SoC Power Architect to optimize power performance for mobile SoCs. You'll leverage your expertise in computer architecture and Android systems to drive innovations in hardware solutions. This role requires 8+ years of experience in power analysis and optimization.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and you have at least 8 years of experience with computer architecture concepts, including micro-architecture, cache hierarchy, pipelining, and memory subsystems. Your background includes 6 years of experience in use case power analysis on mobile SoCs, focusing on performance per watt optimization across the full stack. You may also have a Master's degree or PhD in a related field, emphasizing computer architecture. Your experience extends to Android or similar operating systems, where you've worked from the framework layer to the Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) and SoC. You are familiar with Android entities like SurfaceFlinger, Media Server, or System Server, and you have experience with multimedia, imaging, and connectivity software stacks in Android or similar OS.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be part of a team that pushes boundaries, developing custom silicon solutions that power the future of Google's direct-to-consumer products. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware experiences, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and integration. You will analyze various use cases across the full software and hardware stack, proposing and driving power optimizations, both hardware and software, throughout the design process from concept to mass productization. You will create custom CPU/GPU/other IP micro benchmarks to surface architecture bottlenecks and perform breakdowns of competitor devices to enable IP-level power measurements and analysis. Your contributions will directly impact the innovation behind products loved by millions worldwide, as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that power efficiency is a key consideration in the design and development of new technologies.

What we offer

At Google, we believe in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the brightest minds in the industry, contributing to projects that have a significant impact on the future of technology. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds. Our team combines the best of Google AI, software, and hardware to create radically helpful experiences, and we are committed to making computing faster and more efficient for everyone. Join us in our mission to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful.
