Microsoft is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer for their Datacenter team to oversee electrical systems and power distribution for cloud infrastructure. You'll work with AutoCAD and Azure to ensure compliance with technical standards. This role requires expertise in datacenter electrical engineering.
You are a Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in datacenter electrical engineering — you have a detailed understanding of electrical power monitoring systems and operational network topology. You are capable of achieving PE licensure and have experience overseeing complex electrical systems in large-scale projects.
You have a proven track record of managing consultants and ensuring that engineering designs meet Microsoft’s technical standards — your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders is key to your success. You thrive in collaborative environments and are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture.
Your expertise includes power distribution systems, backup power systems, and control diagrams — you understand the intricacies of electrical controls systems and their sequence of operation. You are detail-oriented and ensure that all specifications and drawings are meticulously developed.
Experience with large-scale datacenter construction projects is a plus — you are familiar with the challenges and requirements of building infrastructure for cloud services. You are also knowledgeable about communication protocols and network architecture, which enhances your ability to contribute to multidisciplinary teams.
In this role, you will provide key input to various organizations and stakeholders within Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation — your insights will help shape the future of datacenter infrastructure. You will oversee the specification and drawing development for all electrical systems, ensuring they align with Microsoft’s standards.
You will manage consultants and guide them in engineering and design processes — your leadership will be crucial in maintaining high-quality standards throughout project lifecycles. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to address any challenges that arise during the construction and operation of datacenters.
Your responsibilities will include developing detailed documentation for electrical systems and power distribution — you will ensure that all designs are compliant with industry standards and best practices. You will also be involved in the operational aspects of datacenters, focusing on efficiency and reliability.
