Overview

Waymo is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to develop and implement requirements and system architecture for ride-hailing operations. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure vehicle performance and safety. This role requires strong teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Who you are

You have a strong background in systems engineering, with experience in developing and implementing system architecture and verification strategies. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with software engineers, product managers, safety engineers, and operations leads to ensure the highest performance standards for autonomous vehicles. Your ability to blend software and hardware systems is key to maintaining the safety and efficiency of ride-hailing operations. You are passionate about driving results and maintaining strong teamwork, contributing to the mission of improving access to mobility and saving lives through technology.

Desirable

Experience in the autonomous driving industry or related fields is a plus. Familiarity with emergency response procedures and system resilience strategies will enhance your ability to contribute effectively to the team. You are adaptable and open to learning new technologies and methodologies that can improve system performance and safety.

What you'll do

In this role, you will work with cross-functional teams to develop and implement requirements for ride-hailing operations. This includes creating processes, procedures, and tooling for both nominal and emergency situations, such as trip interruptions and severe weather. You will design and perform tests that validate system performance, ensuring that the Waymo Driver operates smoothly and safely. Your contributions will directly impact the reliability and safety of autonomous vehicles, making a difference in the lives of riders.

You will also be responsible for maintaining documentation related to system architecture and verification strategies, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed. Collaborating with safety engineers, you will help establish protocols that prioritize passenger safety and system resilience. Your role will involve continuous improvement, identifying areas where processes can be optimized and implementing changes that enhance overall system performance.

What we offer

Waymo offers a competitive salary range of $196,000—$248,000 USD, along with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus program and equity incentive plan. You will also benefit from a generous company benefits program, subject to eligibility requirements.
