Overview

Google is seeking a Data Center Facilities Technician, Mechanical to support the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems in data centers. You'll work with HVAC systems and ensure optimal facility conditions. This role requires 2 years of mechanical experience in an industrial environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree, trade school certification, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field. With at least 2 years of Mechanical/HVAC experience in an industrial or commercial environment, you are familiar with the requirements of working in data centers or similar facilities. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks, including lifting and moving equipment, and you understand the importance of using OSHA standard safety equipment. You are flexible and able to work non-standard hours and shifts, adapting to the needs of the data center environment.

Desirable

You have additional experience in the maintenance of mechanical or cooling distribution systems, ideally within data centers, hospitals, or power plants. Your knowledge of mechanical systems used in a data center environment, such as chillers, air handling units, and pumps, sets you apart. You are skilled in using meters, devices, sensors, and troubleshooting with standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Your ability to communicate effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrades is a key asset.

What you'll do

As a Data Center Facilities Technician, you will operate, monitor, and support the physical conditions of the data center facilities. Your responsibilities will include managing the uptime and maintenance of water pumps, HVAC systems, and control and monitoring systems. You will respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment, ensuring that all systems are functioning optimally. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new mechanical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
