Waymo is seeking a Physical Design Engineer to participate in the design of advanced silicon for self-driving cars. You'll work on high-performance custom silicon and system-level compute architectures. This role requires experience in hardware engineering.
You have a strong background in hardware engineering, particularly in physical design, with experience in the development of advanced silicon for automotive applications. You understand the intricacies of chip design and are familiar with the challenges of optimizing performance, power, and latency in high-performance computing environments. Your collaborative spirit allows you to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring that hardware and software are designed for maximum efficiency. You are curious and eager to learn, always looking for ways to push the boundaries of technology.
Experience with ASIC design and familiarity with industry-standard design tools would be a plus. You may also have a background in autonomous systems or automotive technologies, which would enhance your contributions to the team.
In this role, you will participate in the physical design of advanced silicon for Waymo's self-driving cars, contributing to the design and closure of full chips and individual blocks. You will collaborate closely with other engineers to ensure that the compute platform meets the high-performance demands of autonomous driving. Your work will involve optimizing designs for power and performance, as well as ensuring that the silicon meets the stringent requirements of automotive applications. You will also engage in problem-solving discussions with your team, sharing insights and strategies to overcome design challenges.
Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
