Overview

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead complex subsea cable projects. You'll utilize your technical expertise in marine operations and project management. This role requires a background in subsea engineering and at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Job Description

Who you are

You hold a Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as Subsea Engineering, Marine/Ocean Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or possess equivalent practical experience in subsea cable installation and marine operations. With at least 5 years of experience in offshore industries like hydrographic surveys or undersea telecoms, you have a solid foundation in the technical aspects of subsea projects. You also bring 2 years of experience in project management, event planning, or program management, showcasing your ability to lead and coordinate complex initiatives. Your expertise extends to submarine cable project deployment, including seabed survey and analysis, route engineering, and cable deployment operations. You are familiar with offshore health and safety protocols, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Desirable

You have experience in vendor management, which enhances your ability to coordinate with external partners and stakeholders. Your knowledge of Geographic Information Systems and Makai products, such as MakaiPlan and MakaiLay, sets you apart as a candidate who can leverage advanced tools for project success. You possess excellent people management skills, allowing you to foster teamwork and collaboration among diverse groups. Your commercial acumen and attention to detail ensure that you manage projects effectively, balancing multiple tasks while maintaining high standards.

What you'll do

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception to completion. You will collaborate with team members and stakeholders to define work problems, program goals, and project scope, ensuring that all aspects of the project align with organizational objectives. Your role will involve developing, executing, and managing project plans for supported programs, identifying and engaging relevant stakeholders to drive mutual goals. You will build, maintain, and enhance business and operational dashboards, providing visibility into project progress and performance metrics. Your ability to use professional judgment will be crucial in filling gaps and supporting decision-making processes throughout the project lifecycle.
