Overview

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for Google Cloud Storage to develop large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems. You'll work with C++ and contribute to Google's core infrastructure technologies. This role requires 5+ years of experience in software development.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with 5 years of experience in software development using C++. Your expertise includes developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems, and you have a solid understanding of testing, maintaining, or launching software products. You also possess at least 1 year of experience in software design and architecture, which has equipped you with the skills to tackle complex challenges. A Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred, as is experience with data structures and algorithms. You have spent at least 1 year in a technical leadership role, guiding teams and projects towards success.

Your familiarity with Google's core infrastructure technologies, such as Spanner, Bigtable, Flume, and Borg, or similar industry-leading distributed data technologies, sets you apart. You also have experience with Cloud Storage systems, particularly Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and understand the intricacies of complex large-scale storage management. You are driven by a desire to innovate and bring fresh ideas from various domains, including information retrieval, distributed computing, and security.

What you'll do

As a Senior Software Engineer at Google, you will work on critical projects that shape the future of Google Cloud. You will be responsible for designing and implementing robust software solutions that meet the needs of billions of users. Your role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to anticipate customer needs and develop technologies that enhance user experiences. You will ensure best practices are followed, including style guidelines, code accuracy, testability, and efficiency.

You will contribute to existing documentation and educational content, adapting it based on product updates and user feedback. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you triage product or system issues, debugging and resolving them by analyzing their sources and impacts on hardware, network, or service operations.
