Overview

Amazon is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager for the Prime Air team to lead the development of navigation and flight control software. You'll work with a team of engineers to innovate and solve complex delivery challenges. This role requires experience in navigation and guidance systems.

Who you are

You are an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in Navigation, Guidance, and Flight Controls Software. With a proven track record of driving innovation, you excel in iterative environments and are passionate about applying state-of-the-art technologies to solve real-world challenges. You thrive in collaborative settings, working closely with top-notch developers and cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals. Your analytical capabilities enable you to make data-driven decisions that enhance safety and efficiency in delivery systems. You are comfortable leading teams and have a knack for getting the right things done quickly and effectively.

Desirable

Experience in aerospace or related fields is a plus, as is familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards in aviation. You have a strong understanding of software development processes and are adept at managing complex projects that require coordination across multiple teams. A background in robotics or autonomous systems would further enhance your candidacy.

What you'll do

In this role, you will lead the engineering efforts for the Prime Air navigation and controls software, ensuring that our delivery drones operate safely and efficiently. You will collaborate with systems, test, safety, and security teams to develop robust software solutions that meet stringent performance and safety criteria. Your leadership will guide the team in innovating and iterating on software designs, driving improvements that enhance the customer experience. You will be responsible for setting technical direction, mentoring team members, and fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. You will also engage with stakeholders to align engineering efforts with business objectives, ensuring that the Prime Air initiative continues to push the boundaries of what's possible in drone delivery.
