Senior Software Engineer II

Who you are

9+ years of professional software engineering experience building large-scale backend systems — you've designed and implemented robust architectures that support complex integrations and data models. You have a strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language, such as Java or C#, and are comfortable working with databases like PostgreSQL. Your experience includes mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of engineering excellence within your team.

You are product-minded and collaborative, eager to shape how businesses grow on HubSpot’s platform. You understand the importance of delivering performant and reliable software that scales with user demand. Your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management and design, allows you to contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap of your projects.

Desirable

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure would be a plus, as would familiarity with REST APIs and microservices architecture. You are also open to learning new technologies and adapting to the evolving needs of the marketplace.

What you'll do

As a Senior Backend Engineer II on the Marketplace Framework team, you will design and build the core backend data models that power HubSpot’s marketplaces. You will develop integrations between the marketplace and internal developer tools to create a unified product model, ensuring that developers can list and distribute products efficiently. Your role will involve automating and optimizing parts of the listing process to accelerate time-to-market for new products.

You will collaborate closely with product management and design to define the team roadmap and technical strategy, ensuring that the solutions you build align with business goals. Mentoring engineers will be a key part of your responsibilities, as you support their growth and maintain high standards of engineering excellence.
