Overview

Google is seeking an Electrical Technician to ensure the reliability of data center systems. You'll work with electrical distribution systems and troubleshooting equipment. This role requires 2 years of electrical experience in an industrial environment.

Job Description

Who you are

You have an Associate's degree or trade school certification in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. With at least 2 years of electrical experience, you are familiar with electrical testing equipment and electrical distribution in industrial or commercial environments. You are capable of participating in material handling tasks and understand the importance of safety equipment and ergonomic guidelines. You are willing to work non-standard hours and shifts, demonstrating flexibility in your work schedule.

You have a preferred background in the maintenance of electrical distribution systems or experience in a construction or technical environment. Your knowledge extends to data centers, hospitals, power plants, and industrial production, giving you a well-rounded understanding of electrical systems. You are familiar with the specific electrical systems used in data centers, including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, and PDU/PMM units. You possess the ability to communicate effectively with contractors and colleagues, including proficiency in French for day-to-day operations.

What you'll do

As an Electrical Technician at Google, you will ensure the 24/7 reliability of our physical and control monitoring systems. You will effectively monitor multiple information streams in the control room, making accurate mission-critical decisions. Your responsibilities will include operating, monitoring, maintaining, and responding to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment. You will support the startup, commissioning, and integration of new electrical equipment and systems into the facilities infrastructure, ensuring that all systems function optimally.

You will collaborate with various teams to ensure that maintenance and upgrade work on data center systems is performed efficiently. Your role will require you to troubleshoot issues using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment, ensuring that all electrical systems are functioning as intended. You will also be involved in the continuous improvement of processes and systems, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of the data center operations.
