Job Description

Project Kuiper is an endeavor aimed at deploying a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to deliver high-speed broadband connectivity to underserved communities worldwide. We are looking for talented individuals to join our dynamic team and contribute to this mission.

Role Overview:

As a Power Electronics Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our engineering team focused on pioneering new product development. Your primary responsibility will be to lead the design and optimization of DC/DC and AC/DC power electronics systems, specifically tailored to power our advanced phased array antenna customer terminals. This role will function as a lead role that drives the current generation and next generation power architecture for the Kuiper Customer Terminal products.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design various DC/DC topologies such as: buck, boost, IBC, STC, isolated flyback, half/full bridge, etc.
- Simulate and optimize PDN using industry standard tools (SPICE, Sigrity, Hyperlynx, etc.)
- Lead a team of engineers during deep dive efforts to root cause power noise related system effects.
- Leverage expertise in various AC/DC & DC/DC topologies to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Address EMI/EMC challenges in power circuits to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Develop efficiency and cost models for power electronics designs, exploring different topologies to enhance product line performance.
- Generate test plans and procedures, supporting flow-down requirement definitions, and oversee design verification activities.
- Lead schematic capture and PCB layout design, ensure robustness and manufacturability.
- Conducting board bring-up, executing test campaigns, and proposing effective solutions to design issues.

Export Control Requirement:
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum due to applicable export control laws and regulations.- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus in Power Electronics and experience in the consumer electronics industry
- 3+ years of experience in power electronics design, particularly in DC/DC and AC/DC power conversion
- 3+ years of experience in hardware development across full product life cycles – concept to production
- 3+ years of experience in power integrity design and analysis
- Experience with measurement, troubleshooting and debug skills in a lab environment
- Experience in schematic capture tools and PCB layout design, with experience in leading design reviews.- Masters Degree or pHD in Electrical Engineering, preferably with a focus in Power Electronics and experience in the consumer electronics industry
- 5+ years of experience in power electronics design, particularly in DC/DC and AC/DC power conversion
- 5+ years of experience in hardware development across full product life cycles – concept to production
- 5+ years of experience in power integrity design and analysis
- Experience with measurement, troubleshooting and debug skills in a lab environment
- Experience in schematic capture tools and PCB layout design, with experience in leading design reviews.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
