Job Description

The Opportunity

This is a career-defining opportunity to tackle the pervasive challenge of data fragmentation and inefficient processes across a complex, multi-system enterprise. You will be instrumental in establishing a standardized, secure, and scalable API-led connectivity layer using MuleSoft, directly solving high-impact business problems. This role offers critical ownership of a high-visibility platform, impacting customer success and exposing you to diverse industries and complex technical challenges.

What You’ll Do :

As a Staff Integration Engineer, you'll drive the strategic evolution of our integration landscape, moving beyond tactical point-to-point solutions to embrace strategic API product ownership. You will be responsible for defining and implementing an API-led connectivity layer, ensuring high reusability and robust governance across our critical services. Your role will demand a keen architectural vision, where you'll apply deep expertise in modern cloud and DevOps practices to elevate our integration capabilities far beyond traditional development. You'll also mentor and guide senior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and driving the adoption of best practices, consistently building solutions with future scale in mind.

The Skills You'll Have:

MuleSoft Expertise
+ Lead the technical evaluation and adoption of new Anypoint Platform features, such as new connectors or DataGraph.
+ Define the organization's MuleSoft Operating Model and best practices for Runtime Fabric (RTF) and/or Hybrid deployments.
+ Drive the MuleSoft platform's evolution, ensuring multi-year scalability and optimizing our multi-million dollar investment.
+ Drive enterprise-wide platform performance optimization and cost governance initiatives.
+ Achieve measurable vCore reduction or utilization efficiency across our MuleSoft deployments.

Architecture
+ Design and approve complex cross-domain, event-driven, or microservices architectures.
+ Act as the final technical sign-off for highly complex, high-risk, or non-obvious integration patterns.
+ Own the Integration Architecture Roadmap for a major business domain, ensuring its overall health and scalability.
+ Lead the technical selection and introduction of a new integration technology, such as a new message broker like Kafka.
+ Define and drive the enterprise-wide usage pattern for new integration technologies.

Leadership and Collaboration
+ Mentor Senior Engineers and Architects across multiple teams, elevating their skills and driving technical consistency.
+ Lead comprehensive knowledge sharing sessions or specialized integration chapters.
+ Drive initiatives to establish Engineering Excellence across the entire Integration Chapter/CoE.
+ Act as a trusted technical consultant to senior leadership (VPs/Directors) on critical integration strategy.
+ Successfully mediate and resolve major architectural conflicts between business domains, unifying technical approaches and optimizing development efforts.

Standards, Governance, & Quality
+ Define and implement an automated governance pipeline, leveraging tools like API Governance in Anypoint Platform or automated MUnit minimums.
+ Own the definition of organization-wide Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Indicators (SLIs) for critical integration services.
+ Define, implement, and automate organization-wide governance, performance, and security policies to ensure consistency and maintainability at scale.
+ Drive the strategic development and implementation of a zero-trust API security model across the enterprise.
+ Establish security as code for the entire integration layer, preventing future operational instability and technical debt.
