Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager II for Submarine Cable Deployment to lead complex projects in cloud networking. You'll leverage your expertise in fiber-optic network design and program management. This role requires a technical background and experience in the telecommunications industry.
You have a Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of experience in program management. Your background includes experience in fiber-optic network design, deployment, or construction, such as marine route engineering and outside plant installation. You may also hold a Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering, Telecommunications, Marine Science, or a related field. You have a proven track record of managing cross-functional or cross-team projects, particularly in the telecommunications or subsea cable industry. Your familiarity with the submarine cable deployment lifecycle, including permitting and civil engineering, sets you apart. You possess strong communication skills, enabling you to explain technical analyses to executives and discuss trade-offs with engineers.
In this role, you will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working closely with stakeholders to plan requirements and identify risks. You will manage project schedules and ensure clear communication with cross-functional partners across the company. Your responsibilities will include tracking applications and flagging potential schedule risks, as well as managing vendor performance against contracts to ensure deliverables meet quality, budget, and schedule requirements. You will support commercial discussions and manage administrative processes for contract variations and system handovers. Additionally, you will contribute your technical and process knowledge to the broader team to improve project delivery efficiency.
