Google is seeking a Security Engineer to enhance the security of Google Cloud's virtualization systems. You'll work with software engineers to identify and remediate security vulnerabilities while implementing robust security protocols. This role requires experience in security engineering and cloud infrastructure security.
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, along with at least 2 years of coding experience in one or more general-purpose languages. Your background includes 2 years of experience in security engineering, computer and network security, and security protocols. You are familiar with security assessments, security design reviews, and threat modeling, and you have a strong understanding of systems security, virtualization, or cloud infrastructure security. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
You have 3 years of experience in systems security, virtualization, or cloud infrastructure security, which will help you excel in this role. Your proactive approach to security and your ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams will be key to your success.
In this role, you will work with the Security team to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. You will actively monitor systems for attacks and intrusions, fortifying Google Compute Engine (GCE) against VM escapes. Your responsibilities will include vulnerability detection through code reviews, fuzzing, and testing, as well as continuous monitoring of attack surfaces. You will implement hardening techniques like sandboxing and compiler mitigations, ensuring that security is embedded into the design of new features. You will manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, reviewing designs to drive towards defense in depth and security by default. Your role will also involve developing secure operational practices and controls, providing security guidance for engineers and support staff.
At Google, you will have the opportunity to help set the direction for product security in Google Cloud, partnering with existing security teams, privacy teams, and product engineering teams. You will be part of a growing team that values collaboration and innovation, with the chance to make a significant impact on the security landscape of cloud infrastructure. We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn't match every requirement, as we value diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
