Role PurposeAs a Senior Zero Trust / Zscaler Security Engineer, you will design, implement and manage enterprise Zero Trust architectures, specifically leveraging Zscaler solutions and related network/cloud security technologies. You will act as a hands-on technical expert, a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, and a mentor to the team.
Responsibilities
Lead the design and deployment of Zero Trust architectures across cloud, data centre, branch, remote workforces and partner/third-party connectivity.
Develop and implement solutions using Zscaler platforms (ZIA, ZPA, Zero Trust Firewall, ZDX) and integrate them into the enterprise security fabric.
Define security requirements and translate business needs into technical solution architectures aligned with Zero Trust principles (least privilege access, micro-segmentation, identity/device posture, continuous trust verification).
Configure, manage, optimise, and support Zscaler SaaS offerings, and integrate with identity providers (e.g., SSO/SAML/OAuth), endpoint security, CASB, and network security tools.
Lead migrations from legacy VPN / MPLS / firewall-centric architectures to Zero Trust/SASE models (with Zscaler as the core).
Work closely with cloud teams, AWS, and network teams to ensure seamless and secure connectivity of applications and data.
Provide technical consultancy and facilitate workshops with business, architecture, operations, and security stakeholders.
Create high-level design (HLD) and low-level design (LLD) documents, network diagrams, policy flows, and operational runbooks.
Monitor and report on the security posture, validate controls, and assist in vulnerability/penetration testing related to Zero Trust zones.
Mentor and guide junior engineers or architects, help build internal playbooks, standards, and best-practice frameworks for Zero Trust implementation.
Stay abreast of emerging threats, Zero Trust trends, and Zscaler product enhancements; drive continuous improvement of the security posture.
Required Qualifications & Skills~5 years of experience in IT security, network/cloud security architecture, security engineering, or related discipline.
Hands-on experience with Zscaler solutions (ZIA, ZPA, or equivalent) — preferably 2+ years of direct experience.
Strong understanding of Zero Trust architecture concepts, per-request access, micro-segmentation, identity & device posture.
Deep knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, routing, switching, VPN, SD-WAN, firewalls), cloud connectivity, SaaS, and IaaS environments.
Proven track record of designing and rolling out enterprise security solutions in large organisations (global or multi-site).
Ability to articulate security solutions and risk trade-offs to senior management and business stakeholders.
Excellent documentation and architecture artefact creation skills (HLDs, LLDs, runbooks).
Good interpersonal and mentoring skills; ability to lead and coach less experienced staff.
Relevant certifications preferred (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Zero Trust architecture courses, Zscaler certifications if available).
Willingness to travel (if required) and work in a hybrid/remote model as necessary.
Desirable / Advantageous Skills
Experience with broader SASE (Secure Access Service Edge) frameworks and vendor ecosystems.
Familiarity with CASB and secure web gateways.
Experience with cloud native architectures AWS and implementing Zero Trust in that context.
Experience in regulated industries (banking, finance, healthcare) or large global deployments.
Prior consulting or advisory role where you helped define Zero Trust service offerings or helped drive transformation road-maps.

Successful deployment of the Zscaler-based Zero Trust solution across business units and geographies.
Reduction in legacy VPN/firewall dependencies and adoption of Zero Trust model.
Measurable improvement in access-security posture (e.g., fewer lateral moves, better segmentation).
Stakeholder satisfaction for architecture, operations hand-over and support.
Mentorship and uplift of junior team capabilities; creation of internal frameworks and repeatable playbooks.
