You have 5+ years of experience in data science, particularly in developing statistical models and metrics for performance evaluation. Your background includes working with large datasets and applying machine learning techniques to solve complex problems. You are proficient in Python and have experience with libraries such as TensorFlow and Pandas, enabling you to manipulate and analyze data effectively. You understand the nuances of autonomous driving technology and are passionate about leveraging data to improve safety and service quality.

You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineering teams throughout the software development cycle. Your strong analytical skills allow you to derive insights from data, and you are comfortable communicating these findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You are detail-oriented and have a knack for experimental design, ensuring that your evaluations are robust and reliable.

Desirable

Experience with simulation technologies and their application in data generation is a plus. Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems and the challenges they present in data science will set you apart. What you'll do

In this role, you will develop evaluation frameworks that assess the performance of the Waymo Driver, focusing on safety, compliance, and service quality. You will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that the data collected from both real-world driving and simulations is effectively utilized. Your work will involve creating metrics that help gauge the effectiveness of large-scale machine learning models, contributing to the continuous improvement of our autonomous driving technology.

You will also engage in rigorous performance evaluations, analyzing data from millions of miles driven and tens of billions of miles simulated. Your insights will directly impact the scaling of our ride-hailing service, helping us achieve our ambitious goals. You will be responsible for designing experiments that challenge existing paradigms in data science, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in autonomous driving.

Waymo provides a competitive salary range of $204,000—$259,000 USD, along with eligibility for an annual bonus program and equity incentive plan.
