Overview

SpaceX is hiring an RF Software Engineer for the Starshield team to develop RF capabilities for satellite communications and remote sensing. You'll work with C, C++, and Python in a collaborative environment in Hawthorne, CA.

Job Description

Who you are

You have a strong background in RF engineering and software development, with experience in designing and implementing RF systems. Your expertise in C and C++ allows you to develop robust software solutions for complex RF applications. You are familiar with embedded Linux systems and have a solid understanding of signal processing techniques. Your proficiency in Python enables you to automate testing and validation processes effectively. You thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with cross-functional teams to solve challenging problems. You are passionate about advancing technology for national security and are eager to contribute to innovative projects. You understand the importance of rapid iteration and are comfortable working in fast-paced settings.

Desirable

Experience with large-scale satellite RF systems is a plus, as is familiarity with vector network analyzers (VNA) and spectrum analyzers. Knowledge of automation tools and methodologies will enhance your contributions to the team. A background in government or defense projects can provide valuable insights into the unique challenges faced in this field.

What you'll do

As an RF Software Engineer on the Starshield team, you will drive program-level decisions on RF system designs, ensuring that the solutions meet the needs of national security efforts. You will research and develop novel solutions for unique large-scale satellite RF systems, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in satellite communications. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, validating, and automating RF test benches for full characterization of custom RF designs. You will work with advanced tools such as vector signal generators (VSG) and vector signal analyzers (VSA) to ensure the highest quality of RF performance. Collaboration is key in this role; you will engage with RF engineers, DSP engineers, software engineers, and hardware engineers to create integrated solutions that meet operational requirements. You will also participate in the rapid iteration process, moving from design and demo to operational capability at lightning pace, contributing to the mission of enabling human life on Mars.

What we offer

At SpaceX, you will be part of a mission-driven team that is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and exploration. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for professional growth and development. You will work in a supportive environment that values innovation and collaboration, where your contributions will have a direct impact on national security and the future of space exploration. Join us in our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species and be part of a team that is shaping the future of aerospace technology.
