Haptics Product Design Engineer

Who you are

You have a BS degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience, showcasing your expertise in mechanical design and product development. Your experience with 3D CAD and 2D drafting allows you to create detailed designs that meet high standards of quality and functionality. You possess strong fundamentals in mechanics, enabling you to tackle complex design challenges effectively. Problem-solving is second nature to you, and you are skilled at using tools like the scientific method, root cause analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE) to drive innovation. Your proficiency with mechanical or electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools enhances your ability to validate designs before production. You also have applied knowledge of electrical circuits, material science, and basic chemistry, which is crucial for developing integrated haptic solutions. Team-oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills, you thrive in collaborative environments where creativity and engineering excellence are valued.

Project experience in haptic actuator design or related fields would be a significant advantage, as it demonstrates your ability to lead projects from concept to production. What you'll do

In this role, you will have end-to-end responsibility for the mechanical design and integration of next-generation haptic actuators. You will lead the design process from concept through to production, ensuring that all designs meet Apple’s high standards for quality and user experience. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors, you will work to integrate haptic solutions into various Apple products, including the iPhone and Apple Watch. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you validate designs through rigorous testing and analysis, ensuring that the final products deliver exceptional user experiences. You will also be expected to document your design processes and results, contributing to the overall knowledge base of the team and the company.
