SpaceX is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for Supplier Development in Optics & Optomechanical Systems. You'll work on developing and maintaining suppliers for cutting-edge satellite communication systems. This role requires expertise in mechanical engineering and supplier management.
You have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in supplier development and management. Your expertise in optics and optomechanical systems allows you to effectively collaborate with internal engineering and manufacturing teams. You are detail-oriented and possess the ability to drive projects from initial concept through to full-scale production. Your problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges in a fast-paced environment, ensuring that high-performance systems are delivered on time.

As a Manufacturing Engineer focused on Supplier Development, you will be responsible for building and scaling a highly technical supply base for the free-space optical communication system design. You will work closely with the Space Lasers team to ensure that suppliers meet the stringent requirements for quality and performance. Your role will involve evaluating potential suppliers, conducting audits, and implementing improvement plans to enhance supplier capabilities.
You will collaborate with internal teams to define specifications and requirements for components, ensuring that they align with the overall system design. Your technical expertise will be crucial in troubleshooting issues that arise during the manufacturing process, and you will work to develop solutions that maintain production schedules.
In addition, you will participate in the design review process, providing insights on manufacturability and supplier capabilities. Your contributions will directly impact the success of the Starlink project, as you help to deliver reliable internet connectivity to underserved populations around the globe.
